Solar boreholes in the DRC: combining the energy transition with universal access to drinking water

In many parts of the DRC, access to pathogen-free water remains the number one health challenge. CICOAGRI's Borehole & Water Engineering division meets this need with durable, eco-friendly mechanised solutions.

The decisive advantage of advanced geophysics

Before each borehole, our technicians carry out electrical resistivity surveys and geophysical soundings to pinpoint deep aquifers (often between 60 and 140 metres). This guarantees a lasting flow, even at the height of the dry season.

Zero fuel thanks to photovoltaic pumping

Diesel generators are expensive, polluting and prone to breakdowns. CICOAGRI has chosen solar pumping exclusively, with smart inverters. Water is pumped automatically during the day and stored in raised galvanised steel tanks, allowing gravity-fed distribution to standpipes and drip irrigation networks.
